Travel, for me, is a state of mind, and photography is an open-eye meditation. I travel every second, and every journey is transformative. In some journeys, I sit still; in others, I move, often with a camera. Every time the shutter releases, the past and the future blur, enhancing the present and bringing into focus what I would typically miss with a screen in front of me.
Over the years, I have used my photos to raise funds for social projects that are an integral part of my life. My very first photo fund raiser started in 2019 to build a library in the school founded by my unschooled great grandmother in the 1930s. So many friends from around the world came forth to support that project! They bought many photos and referred some of their friends to support it too. That sweet and successful experience set the stage for many more FUN.d RAISERS.
Ever so often I get messages from friends and family to fill up their white walls with my photos. Every single photo sold has contributed to one or more of the social projects listed below.
Maybe some of these will fit the spaces you inhabit and bring you good vibes.
Sincerely,
Here are some of the social projects I support through the FUN.d RAISER.
- The Blue Cross of India, which caters to homeless animals and animal adoption.
- Literacy projects in India
- The Samanta Foundation in Uttarakhand โ provides education and employment skills to the forest-dwelling tribal communities of northern India that live in secluded regions, far from access to government schools.
- The Shanti Sahyog in South Delhi โ provides education for children from financially poor backgrounds to improve their chances of a better quality of life in the future.
- The Seethai Achi School in Pallathur, Chettinad โ provides free education to children of daily wage earners who have no access to free education in that region
- The IAHV The International Association for Human Values
- The Art of Living Foundation โ a volunteer-based, humanitarian and educational non-governmental organisation founded in 1981 by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, a globally revered spiritual and humanitarian leader
The way the FUN.d RAISER works is as follows
